GVC was subcontracted to perform all Heavy/Civil Construction on the Berth 11 section of this project at
Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in Kittery, ME. The work occurred within the Controlled Industrial Area (CIA)
and required detailed planning and scheduling to avoid Shipyard delays. The Prime Contract value
exceeded $27m on the project.
Highlights of this project included:
+1,100 LF of 3-sided Precast Utility Tunnel (8’6” x 8’10”) along the Berth
+1,000 cy of Cast in Place Roof above the precast tunnel
Surplus Soils & Hazardous materials handing & disposal to Turnkey Landfill
Wharf Rehabilitation including HP14x117 Driven H-Piles (2300LF) and 46 CIP Pile Caps
+1,000 LF of Medium Voltage Duct-banks (13.8kv)
Surface Restoration of Shipyard Roadways & Wharfs
- All work along Berth 11 was tidally influenced
